For most couples planning an outdoor December wedding in 2020, having snow in the forecast may be a nightmare. For Mark and Sara it was a gift that added a truly magical touch to their wedding. For weeks Mark and his family had been working hard to erect the small cabin that would become the backdrop for their intimate ceremony on their newly purchased organic garlic farmstead in Erin, Ontario. Decked out with garlands of green and with the fire pits burning bright and warm, it was a charming place for the wedding of two people who could not have been more clearly in love. Each guest was given a blanket in case they were cold, hot apple cider and cookies for after the ceremony, and multiple fire pits to keep everyone toasty.
Before making her way to the ceremony, Sara got ready surrounded by her family and maid of honour. She was the picture of elegance in her custom gown by Lovable Victoria, a local dress maker from Toronto. Seasonally appropriate pine cones peeked out from amongst her bouquet of white and green.
The snow held off just long enough for us to get the ceremony started, but soon enough we were all engulfed by the cozy quietness of a fresh snowfall. A couple who deem themselves less outdoorsy than Mark and Sara may not have fared well, but these two really embraced the snow and leaned into it rather than letting it ruin their day.
Clearly something was keeping these two warm on their wedding day. You know how the old adage goes; cold hands, warm heart.
